Register a dividend distribution
A dividend distribution is registered from "Add Operation" › "Dividend distribution". It doesn't move any shares: you enter the total amount, decide whether to apply withholding and Sttok splits it among the shareholders according to their percentage. The record shows each one their gross amount, the withholding and what they receive. Unlike other operations, it has no notary details.

Before you start
- The resolution of the general meeting approving the distribution: the date and the total amount. If the resolution gives it per share, multiply it by the shares before you start.
- The withholding percentage to apply, and which shareholders have a different one.
- The minutes or the certificate of the resolution, if you want to attach it.
How to do it#
- Open the form. In Transactions, go to "Transactions List", click "Add Operation" and choose "Dividend distribution".
- Fill in the first step. The "Date", the minutes or the certificate in "Add document (optional)" and "Comments" if you want. There's no notary block here: a distribution is resolved by the general meeting and isn't executed as a public deed. Click "Next".
- Enter the total amount. In "Amount allocated to dividends" type the total amount of the distribution, not the amount per share. Sttok splits it among the shareholders according to their percentage of the issued shares.
- Decide on withholding. Answer "Do you want to apply withholding?". If you say yes, you enter one percentage for everyone, and then you can change it for each shareholder who should have a different one.
- Review the distribution. The table shows each shareholder with their "Name", their "%ND" and what they get in "To receive". Check that the total matches the amount resolved.
- Click "Save Operation".
An example with figures#
The general meeting of Sociedad Ejemplo, S.A. resolves to distribute €100,000. Ana holds 20% of the shares. For the example, a withholding of 19% (the actual percentage depends on the country and on each shareholder):

| Withholding (19%) | €3,800 |
| To receive | €16,200 |

- From the distribution's record you can download the details with "Download details", in the "···" menu, or print them with "Print".
Frequently asked questions#
Do treasury shares get paid?
In the distribution table, Sttok includes all the shareholders, Treasury Shares too, with their share. The shares a company holds in itself don't usually receive dividends, so check the Treasury Shares row against what the resolution says before saving.
What is "Other contributions"?
Another entry in the add menu for distributing money to the shareholders that isn't a dividend. The first step is the same, without notary details. In the second you enter the amount in "Contribution", the table shows each one with their "Name", their "%ND" and what they get in "To receive", with no withholding, and you finish with "Save contribution". In the list it appears as "Contribution".
Can I register the distribution before paying it?
Yes. Sttok registers the distribution resolution with its date; you make the payment yourself from the company's bank.

- Register an operation: what each type asks for Every operation is registered from "Add Operation", on the Operations screen. The first step is almost the same for all types: the date, the document, the comments and the notary details. What changes is the second, because each type does something different to the share capital: create or cancel shares, change their owner, distribute money, reorganize them or exchange them for shares in another company.
- A shareholder's Transactions tab The Transactions tab on a shareholder's profile lists the operations they have taken part in, with their type, date, amount and the shares that came into or left their position, and below that the dividends they have received. It is their part of each operation, not the whole operation.
- A shareholder's return (ROI) The "Investment and return" block in the Summary tab of a shareholder's profile compares what they have put into the company with what they have received from it. What was invested comes from the capital increases they subscribed and the shares they bought; what was received, from what they were paid when selling and from dividends. The difference is their realized result.
- The minutes and their signature Sttok drafts the minutes and the certificate of resolutions with the data of the general meeting: the chair and secretary, the attendees and the result of each item. In the Minutes tab you review them and click "Request signature". In the Signatures tab you track who has signed.
